The service is an open platform called the UPI Developer. Through the application programming interface (API), developers can integrate UnionPay's technical services into their products efficiently and cost-effectively, providing UnionPay cardholders with more payment scenarios and services and enhancing their payment experience.

Cai Jianbo, CEO of UnionPay International, claims that the company is developing payment services with an eye on future innovation, and that the UPI Developer program is designed to help partners' demand.

"With the development of innovative payment technology and commercial applications, UPI is accelerating building up its innovative payment technology and service capacity and promoting the digitalization of its card business to support the development of mobile payments," Cai said.

Some of the APIs on the UPI Developer include QR Code acceptance, in which users can connect using a UnionPay QR code, in-app Apple Pay, UnionPay Tax Refund, Secure Pay and Token Service. UnionPay International plans to launch the above products in 43 overseas jurisdictions. It also has built service platforms, such as the UnionPay International Mobile Payment Service (UMPS) and TSP, to help its partners execute UnionPay mobile payment services as efficiently, safely and quickly as possible.

The company hopes to aid its partners through efficient and flexible solutions on the UPI Developer. UnionPay International plans to eventually launch a technical partner program, where developers can access UnionPay's technical services through the UPI Developer via an online application, enabling them to join the company's cross-border payment area. Furthermore, the company also intends to expand its collaborations within the industry to optimize card services globally.
